The city of Toronto is trying to address the affordable housing infrastructure and accessibility. In 2019 the City passed a vote at City council 33-1 in favour of allowing homeowners to build a second dwelling on their property under specific requirements. These dwellings known as laneway homes consist of two-storey units in the back of a residential property connected to a laneway. We anticipate a surge in housing construction putting a demand for plumbing, heating and gas contractors. New sewer, water supply and gas utilities are required. We are excited to begin new construction on laneways homes as it provides a new opportunity for us to demonstrate our skills and helps to address the affordable housing crisis in our city.
